Addy Sterrett is a soprano based in Los Angeles. Her interests include sacred music, performing new works, and singing with choirs. Recent highlights include singing background vocals during Björk’s Cornucopia tour, Los Angeles Master Chorale’s staged production of Schütz’s Musikalische Exequien directed by Peter Sellars at the Salzburg Festival, and Mahler Symphony No. 4 with the Grand Rapids Symphony. A roster member of the Los Angeles Master Chorale, she has been a featured soloist for Handel’s Messiah, Faure’s Requiem, and many other works. She sings regularly with Seraphic Fire and Tesserae Baroque, among other early music groups. Together with her colleagues in LA, she recently co-founded the vocal and instrumental consort collective Peasant Fylthe to explore lesser known and less-than-sacred ancient music.
Addy was a Carmel Bach Festival Virginia Best Adams Fellow in 2024, the 2022 recipient of the Linn Maxwell Keller Distinguished Bach Musician Award, and was voted Audience Favorite in the inaugural American National Oratorio Competition this past February. In addition to her accomplishments as a concert soloist, she enjoys performing new music and has premiered the works of many living composers, including John Harbison, Reena Esmail and Balint Karosi. She studied at Interlochen Arts Academy and DePauw University before earning her M.M. in Early Music Vocal Performance at Yale University’s Institute of Sacred Music. Raised in a small town in Northern Michigan, Addy is the daughter of two foresters and is deeply inspired by the beauty of our world.
