Student Opportunities & Outreach
Thanks to generous support from the City of Newport Beach and a grant from the Jane Deming Fund at Orange County Community Foundation, the Baroque Music Festival will again offer the following opportunities to NMUSD families and other Orange County-based middle school, high school and college students, during Festival week, June 21-28, 2026:
- $10 Student “Go for Baroque” Rush Tickets at the door for Festival performances at churches (subject to space availability) for young people aged 12 to 29 with valid full-time student card and photo ID. NMUSD students! SCC students! Bring an adult along for the same $10 rush price. Proof of NMUSD/SCC enrollment is required.
- Behind-the-scenes access to afternoon dress rehearsals—sitting close up to the musicians—on Saturday June 20 (French violin concerto and ballet suites) and Saturday June 27 (Handel Ode for St. Cecilia’s Day, Chandos Anthem and Concerto Grosso).

For many years Omicron Pi CSUF have served as key volunteer team members during Festival week. You will see their brothers welcoming you at concert venues, assisting with check-in, and more. Omicron Pi is a chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. It was founded on May 1, 1966, at Cal State University, Fullerton, as the 249th chartered chapter of the Fraternity. Dr. Burton Karson (Baroque Music Festival, Corona del Mar’s founding artistic director and then AD Emeritus 2011-2025), who at the time was a Professor of Music at Cal State Fullerton, was the Faculty Advisor, and Richard Polley was the Chapter President. By the end of the day, the Chapter stood 19 members strong. Since then, many notable brothers have been initiated into the Omicron Pi chapter and have gone into many fields, including music.
