Gabriel Golden

Gabriel Golden is a Guatemalan-American double bass and violone player, who has established himself in the professional world of music. Predominantly a freelance musician in Southern California, playing and recording with many of the region’s top ensembles, he has also played in Mexico and China, and given masterclasses in Panama. A graduate of Oberlin College and Conservatory of Music, Gabriel received a Bachelor of Music in Double Bass performance with a Minor in Cello Performance, and a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture with a Minor in Art History. Subsequently, while at the University of California, Gabriel received a Masters of Music and a Graduate Certificate in Double Bass performance. He is a Phi Kappa Lambda Scholar and a recipient of the Colburn, Dangerfield Town and Gown, Siskel Town and Gown, and Music Dean’s Merit Scholarships. While at USC he had an immediate connection with the violone. Along with eight colleagues, Gabriel co-founded the early music group Tesserae. Gabriel works at a local double bass shop as a luthier and currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two young children.
